Synopsis: Millwork & Signage Install

Circle K—a leading c-store & fuel retailer—was looking for a partner to self-perform convenience millwork and signage installations at a number of select locations in the American market. After successfully completing convenience millwork and signage installs at two Circle K test locations, NFI was awarded an ongoing contract, and has since self-performed custom installs at over 30 Circle K stores around the U.S.

Opportunity: Convenience Millwork & Signage Installations

An NFI project manager assigned to this convenience millwork & signage installation had previously worked with the millwork client project manager, so a mutual connection was already in place, which helped streamline the finalization process. The original discussions were based on the ideal of launching a new ongoing program with potential for growth. After negotiating pricing, NFI was awarded two locations as a test to self-perform the convenience millwork and signage installations. The type of installs and number of locations aligned perfectly with NFI’s expertise and schedule, resulting in the millwork client contracting NFI to self-perform the installations of their product.

Execution: Convenience Millwork & Signage Installations

The NFI team reviewed the scope of the proposed convenience store millwork and signage install projects, and determined the best crew to begin with the initial project install. The goal was to enable NFI to source established and trained crews that had primary focus on Circle K locations.

The scope of the installation project included:

installed wall panels and graphics in the beer cooler, food and coffee areas and beverage areas;
ceiling-hung halogen lights;
door and restroom signage.

NFI optimized tool needs, crew size, and install duration, while also providing feedback to the millwork supplier for product and process improvements. This helped maintain quality while reducing costs, with ongoing evaluations driving continued efficiency.

Result

NFI completes each convenience millwork and signage installation project on time and to our customers’ standards. Each location completed provides additional opportunities for crew training and improvements for future locations.
