Warehouse/Facility Associate

Position Summary:

Directly responsible for all day to day aspects of warehouse and facilities management including the maintenance of both the interior and exterior of the building, self-performing such work when possible, working with the Director of Field Services or Vice President of Operations to outsource to reputable outside resources when necessary.  Exterior maintenance includes all lawncare and parking lot upkeep. 

Position is directly responsible for tool and equipment inventory, logistics for shipping tools and equipment to project, working closely with Project Management team, and assuring the proper upkeep and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Individual must work well in a fast-paced team environment and have the experience and aptitude to work in both an office and field environment.  Candidate must be positive with an encouraging personality and a strong work ethic. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Operational Management

  • Ship out tools, equipment and materials (consumables – shims, screws, adhesives, etc.) for specific jobs as directed by the Project Manager
  • Coordinate the logistics of all out going and in coming freight, working with freight carriers assuring that all deliveries and pick-ups are completed as scheduled
  • Oversee all aspects of the general maintenance and upkeep of the exterior and interior of the building (example, change out lights when necessary, repair loose drawer pull)
  • Oversee all aspects of building and grounds service maintenance (example, schedule duct cleanings, schedule lawn sprinkler start-up in the spring, etc.)
  • Oversee maintenance of all company owned vehicles and equipment, completing and/or coordinating routine maintenance (example, bring in company truck for oil change)
  • Complete lawn care during the summer and snow removal of the parking lot and sidewalks in the winter months
  • Check-in all tools and equipment as they come back in from jobs assuring that they are working properly and safely
  • Complete maintenance on all tools and equipment making simple repairs and coordinating with outside resources when more extensive repairs and/or maintenance is required
  • Work closely with Safety Coordinator to assure that all tools and equipment sent out to the field meets all required safety standards
  • Assure that all tools and equipment are shipped complete in working order and include all the necessary safety accessories (example, table saws are shipped equipped with emergency shut off switch and saw blade guards)
  • Theft and Loss Prevention – Work closely with VP of Operations to assure that all measures are being taken to minimize tool, equipment, and material loss and theft
  • Maintain shipping reports that will allow us to make necessary assessments when reviewing our shipping vendors (make recommendations for change when necessary)
  • Work closely with Director of Field Services and VP of Operations to maintain our business partnership with current shipping/logistic partners, equipment rental, tool repair, and other miscellaneous vendors; assist as necessary to recruit new and replace existing
  • Assist Project Managers to line up equipment rentals (example, forklifts, scissor lifts, rental trucks, etc.)
  • Be available to take calls from the field to provide support related to tool deliveries and pick-ups, equipment rental deliveries and pick-ups, troubleshooting defective, non-working, tools and equipment (replacing as necessary), and assisting with tool and material purchases
  • Provide support to the Director of Field Services and project management staff as directed by the VP of Operations
  • Coordinate delivery of tools to local (in market) jobs when required (may require to deliver with company truck)

Core Competencies & Skills

Internal Systems

  • Good Understanding and affluent with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good understanding and affluent with inventory management software

Technical Skills

  • Able to operate and maintain all power tools required for carpentry work
  • Able to operate a forklift
  • Able to operate a pickup truck front end snow plow
  • Able to operate and maintenance small lawn equipment

    Communication

    • Good internal communication skills; understands how to communicate with the team in difficult/time sensitive situations
    • Understands how to develop and foster relationships with vendors
    • Able to communicate and easily adapt to the needs of the field employees in order that they may efficiently and safely complete their work

     

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    Education: Two-Year technical program preferred

    Experience: Previous experience in warehouse or facilities management preferred

    Technical: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
